Czech design
Final visual communication project, Southampton Solent University of Art, Design and Fashion, 2017

Have you ever heard term Czech design? Probably not. There is not really much awareness about it despite the fact that this small country contents many interesting and important designs and ideas. In my work I explored the work of three important Czechoslovakian artists. Instead of writing down my thoughts and opinions I found one unique element of each of their work. Then I created my own designs based on these elements and let myself inspire by books from Czechoslovakian authors. I created all of these designs by hand (using ink, projector and photography and photograms) and then scanned them. Since the book’s content is made of designs that might work as book covers, the text itself is included on the cover and the parts of the book, that are not meant for text at all. Since I needed to include info about designers inside the book, I choose to put this information on different paper. The book cover is created with lasercut and the book is hand binded using coptic stitch.
This work doesn’t give you the answer to Czech design, it rather opens the discussion and grow the awareness about this small controversial country.
